4/1/2011 - Pope John Names Football Coach
After a month-long search Pope John High School named its new head football coach Friday at a press conference held at the school.
Sparta resident and former Don Bosco assistant coach Brian Carlson was introduced by the school as the successor to legendary coach Vic Paternostro who resigned at the start of March due to health reasons, according to Monsignor Kieran McHugh, president of the school.
Carlson, a Bergen County native and previously the head coach at Kean University, becomes the school's second head coach in 43 years. Paternosto leaves as the state's all-time winningest coach with 373 wins.
We will have more on this story shortly.
